Using AI in Learning and Development: Designing and Delivering Training with AI

A validated, practical full day on using AI to design and deliver learning. Covers AI for learning planning, content creation and facilitation. First delivered at DLH in January 2026 and refined since.

About this seminar

This session is about using AI to do learning-and-development work — designing, creating and delivering training and development — not about teaching the subject of AI. Whether you design training for others, build your own skills, or support colleagues’ development as part of your role, it shows you what AI now makes possible across the L&D cycle.

First delivered at DLH in January 2026 and refined from participant feedback, it covers three connected areas: planning learning (your own or your team’s) with AI assistance; creating learning content faster and to a higher standard; and using AI to support facilitation — generating exercises, case studies, quizzes and reflection prompts.

Participants work with free and low-cost AI tools throughout the day. No specialist software is required. A curated prompt library and all session materials are shared as living resources after the session — updated as new tools emerge.

This session is designed for a wide audience: L&D professionals, HR managers, line managers who develop their teams, and anyone who takes their own professional development seriously. No prior AI experience is needed.

You will learn to
  • Apply AI tools to design a structured learning plan for themselves or their team
  • Generate at least three types of learning content (exercise, quiz, case study) using AI assistance
  • Describe the key quality checks and risks that apply when using AI in learning design
  • Access and use the shared prompt library and resource toolkit after the session
